Jeri Ryan, PhD, LMHC

A BIT ABOUT MY BACKGROUND

Jeri RyanI have been a psychotherapist for just over thirty years. My long time passion for the work comes of engaging with people as they grow to a comfortable place within themselves and in relationship with others. After all of these years, witnessing that more powerful sense of self still feels magical to me. I believe in the inherent goodness of people, and enjoy helping them to find healthier ways of being in the world, and to create happier lives. My therapeutic style is pro-active and straightforward, with an ease in relating to people through experience, compassion and humor.

My psychotherapeutic approaches address the mind/body connection, as research shows that how we perceive and process events in our lives can influence us both mentally and physically. With extensive experience in the fields of trauma, energy psychology and addiction treatment, I enjoy helping individuals, couples and families, including blended families. I particularly enjoy working with adolescents to help them find the voice of their own individuality. I consider my work a collaboration between myself and my clients, and I’ve been effective in providing support to people from a wide variety of backgrounds.

LET’S TALK ABOUT WHAT I CAN DO FOR YOU

I can help you become the person you want to be, and I would love the opportunity to do so. Initial sessions are designed to build trust and create a safe place for you to explore and successfully address the challenges that bring you to therapy. My goal is for you to feel comfortable sharing whatever is on your mind. Feeling safe as we engage in the process of uncovering old wounds, patterns, and survival mechanisms is the first step in the development of our therapeutic relationship. As self-awareness grows, you’ll become more at ease with our process, yourself and others.

I use a variety of techniques including cognitive therapies, body-oriented therapies (energy-work), and communication enhancement. I will help you to understand the forces driving unhealthy behavior and to develop healthier options. You’ll become stronger and more resilient when dealing with life’s stressors, and you will ultimately have a more emotionally connected and fulfilling life.

I can help when:

  • You want to move forward from the past
  • You feel depressed, anxious, fearful, and hopeless or are struggling with losses and grief
  • You are unhappy and can’t pinpoint why
  • You struggle to communicate with people close to you, or with colleagues and friends
  • You want family (relational) closeness and an end to conflict
  • You are between the ages of 16 and 65+
